Labeling Requirements

One of the most recognized licensed product authenticators in the licensing business is CLC’s “Officially Licensed Collegiate Products” label. Each year, this label is affixed to more than 100 million collegiate products in the U.S. It serves as a quality seal of approval in representing the authenticity of licensed products for institutions in the CLC Consortium. This label was first introduced to consumers in 1981, and tens of millions of consumers now recognize this mark and the merchandise quality represented by this icon.

In 2002, CLC took steps to elevate the label to a new level of authentication by shifting to a secure hologram sticker and hangtag. CLC is the only collegiate licensing entity that requires the use of a secure holographic label on products. The OLCP hologram label functions effectively as an enforcement and compliance tool, enabling CLC staff to use it as a means for obtaining information about licensed products displayed in the marketplace.

Apparel Licensees are required to use the OLCP hologram hangtag or affix the 1” OLCP hologram sticker to an approved custom hangtag on all merchandise.

Headwear and Non-Apparel Licensees are required to use OLCP hologram stickers (1” x 1”). Those Non-Apparel Licensees with very small products may be permitted to use the smaller (1cm x 1cm) hologram stickers with special written approval from CLC.

Current Logos on Demand subscription holders may order the labels online and save $15 in handling fees; otherwise, licensees must complete the order form and fax it to J. Patton at 1-770-612-0439.

Please note that OLCP labels will not be shipped until/unless you have an agreement in place with CLC.
