South Carolina Gamecocks Win College World Series

The University of South Carolina was crowned National Champions in the 2010 NCAA Men’s College World Series® on Tuesday, June 29. The Gamecocks defeated the UCLA Bruins, also a CLC partner, 2-1 in the final College World Series game ever to be played at the famed Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Neb.

Tuesday night’s victory marked South Carolina’s first national championship in any men’s sport. It was USC’s fourth College World Series appearance in the last 11 years and ninth in school history.

South Carolina students, fans, and alumni will want to commemorate the College World Series title with championship product, which is now available at participating retail locations throughout the country, as well as the Internet.

The University of South Carolina currently ranks No. 22 in The Collegiate Licensing Company’s member institution rankings. The rankings represent royalties reported July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009 on collegiate merchandise sold. The victory comes on the heels of a highly anticipated South Carolina football season, and this National Championship will help to ensure another great year for the South Carolina licensing program.

When purchasing product to celebrate the win, fans are encouraged to look for "Officially Licensed Collegiate Products." Officially licensed South Carolina merchandise ensures the product has been approved by the University and that royalties from the sales will go back to the campus to support important programs.

Tips for consumers purchasing National Championship merchandise…

• All officially licensed merchandise should display the “Officially Licensed Collegiate Products” hologram on the product or hangtag.

• The merchandise should depict College World Series, NCAA, and SEC logos and marks in a tasteful manner, as distasteful designs are not approved by the NCAA or South Carolina.

• The tag on the garment should be intact. A torn or missing tag is evidence of a second-hand garment, one that probably would not meet the stringent quality standards set in place by the NCAA or South Carolina.

• All merchandise should bear the name of the manufacturer somewhere on the product, either in the form of a hangtag, a neck label, or screen-printed directly on the garment.

• All merchandise should have the appropriate trademark designations (i.e. TM,) next to a specific name or design.

Congratulations South Carolina!
