Alabama Crimson Tide Wins BCS National Championship

The No. 1 ranked University of Alabama, CLC’s first university client and partner since 1981, was crowned National Champions in the 2010 Citi BCS National Championship GameŽ on Thursday, December 7. The Crimson Tide defeated the No. 2 Texas Longhorns, also a CLC partner, in the Rose Bowl GameŽ that was held in Pasadena, Calif.

It is Alabama’s 13th national title in school history and first since 1992.

Alabama students, fans, and alumni will want to commemorate the national title with championship product, which is now available as participating retail locations throughout the country, as well as the Internet.

The University of Alabama currently ranks No. 5 in The Collegiate Licensing Company’s member institution rankings. The rankings represent royalties reported July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009 on collegiate merchandise sold. Coming off of a 30 percent royalty increase in 2008-09, this National Championship will help to ensure another great year for the Alabama licensing program.

When purchasing product to celebrate the win, fans are encouraged to look for Officially Licensed Collegiate Products.

Tips for consumers purchasing National Championship merchandise…

• All officially licensed merchandise should display the “Officially Licensed Collegiate Products” hologram on the product or hangtag.

• The merchandise should depict BCS logos and marks in a tasteful manner, as distasteful designs are not approved by the BCS or Alabama.

• The tag on the garment should be intact. A torn or missing tag is evidence of a second-hand garment, one that probably would not meet the stringent quality standards set in place by the BCS or Alabama.

• All merchandise should bear the name of the manufacturer somewhere on the product, either in the form of a hangtag, a neck label, or screen-printed directly on the garment.

• All merchandise should have the appropriate trademark designations (i.e. TM,) next to a specific name or design.

Congratulations Alabama!
